Advances in contact lens technology mean that uncomfortable contact lenses are a thing of the past. The latest contact lenses are made from materials that are highly comfortable and breathable so you eyes remain fresh and lubricated throughout the day.
Types of contact lenses
Rigid Gas Permeable lenses (RPG) – Also known as oxygen permeable lenses. These rigid lenses allow the eye to breathe unlike the previous ‘hard’ lenses. RPG’s are much harder and more durable than their soft counterpart and have a significantly longer life span. RPG lenses can provide better vision, durability and deposit resistance than soft lenses. They are easier to clean and since they are long lasting they can be less expensive in the long term.
Soft disposable lenses – Soft disposable lenses are the most common lenses and can be either daily, fortnightly, or monthly disposable.
Soft conventional lenses – These conventional lenses are made from soft, flexible water containing material. Lenses are custom made and last 12 to 18 months.
Multifocal soft disposable lenses – Conventional and gas permeable lenses can all be used to give correction to people who need their glasses for distance.
